KINGSTON - Lady Northcote, which plies the Georgetown/Port Kaituma route, will be back in the water by month end, announce Annette Ferguson, Minister within the Ministry of Public Infrastructure during a press conference yesterday, November 16, 2015.
“MV Lady Northcote is 95 percent completed and is currently off the blocks and undergoing final works. The works have progresses excellently and should be handed over early next week. The media will be invited for a tour of the vessel upon completion,” Hon. Ferguson told members of the media.
The vessel has been docked since September for much needed rehabilitation works, which include the replacing the wheel house deck above the captain’s cabin on the sun deck, passengers’ deck, main deck, bow deck, the exterior of the hull, the bow and stern above the waterline, six toilet areas, and all cabins.
Additionally, beds and bunks are being constructed and prepared for installation on the new wood decking for the passenger deck.
The rehabilitation works amount to GY $70M.
