Project Established Campsites
- Main Campsite: Located at Track 'J' Land, Coverden Public Road, East Bank Demerara, Guyana. This site will serve as the primary location for bulk storage, concrete batching, housing, office facilities, and other operational needs.
- Sub-main Campsite: Situated on the eastern side of the Soesdyke-Linden Highway, between Madewini Creek and Kuru Kururu, Guyana. This campsite will be dedicated to cement concrete batching, asphalt mixing and the bulk storage of materials.
Road Works will entail:
- Approximately 23.7km of roadway with over 58 structures
- Road will be an upgraded 2-lane roadway
- Increased safety features for vulnerable road users, namely pedestrians and cyclists including sidewalks and cycle lanes;
- Construction of concrete drains
- Installation of thermoplastic road marking; LED street lighting; and traffic signs
- Reconstruction of bridges and culverts as well as widening of culverts along the road from Good Success to Timehri.
Public Communication and Dissemination of Information
- In addition to the use of print and social media, the Ministry will utilize the RESOLV 75 WhatsApp application to communicate with the public, which facilitated with assistance from the IDB.
Stakeholder Consultations
- Road Rehab Project will improve road safety and reducing traffic congestion.
- Benefits will include better access to jobs, markets, and services for communities.
- It is acknowledged that there will be concerns and questions from residents and businesses regarding potential impacts during construction, such as access disruptions and noise but there are measures to mitigate the disruption as best as possible.
- There is a Grievance Redress Mechanism: Stakeholders will be made aware of the process and will have easy accessibility through several channels. All grievances will be confidential and handled impartially.
- We commit to regular communication and engagement with stakeholders throughout the project to address issues promptly.
