KINGSTON - The Force Account Unit (FAU) installed two culvert high-density polyethylene pipes at Durey Lane Campbellville [in front of Nikey fish shop] last Saturday.
A culvert is a structure that allows water to flow under a road. Typically embedded so as to be surrounded by soil, a culvert may be made from a pipe, reinforced concrete or other material.
According to Lawrence Mentis, head of the FAU, the previous culvert was badly damaged which prompted the Ministry of Public Infrastructure (MPI) to immediately correct the problem.
“We now have to place hot asphalt over the repairs. This will be done this Friday, August 28,” Mentis added.
The project is costing the Ministry GY $800,000.
