MPI’s retreat: Forging better relationships

20th August, 2015

KINGSTON - The Ministry of Public Infrastructure (MPI)) held its first one-day retreat under the tutelage of its senior Minister David Patterson and junior Minister Annette Ferguson at Splashmin’s Resort and Eco Fun Park last week Friday.

Managers, Engineers, Personnel and Finance Officers were engaged in active discussions to stimulate excellence within the Ministry.

Minister Patterson in his address to the over 50 staff challenged them to break the cycle within the Ministry to “We can”.

“Start thinking and I am confident that we will achieve this,” he added.

Meanwhile, Hon. Ferguson charged the officers to focus on the present instead of the past.

“Things must be done differently…our image and our work ethics,” she stated.

Boosting staff morale, effective communication within agencies/departments and short, medium and long-term solutions to enhance agencies efficiency were some of the areas explored.

Rawle Dundass facilitated the interactive sessions.

Representatives from Works Services Group, Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA); Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA); Maritime Administration Department (MARAD); Transport and Harbours Department (T&HD); Demerara Harbour Bridge (DHB) and Canawaima Ferry Service were in attendance
